The fishing port is set in a natural cove at the foot of the plateau of Atalaye.
It was proclaimed a "Free Commune" on June the 7th 1961.
There are 65 crampottes, small fishing cottages with colorful shutters, for 95 moorings.
They are the property of the city of Biarritz and rented solely to local citizens owning a boat moored in the harbor.
There is a long waiting list which is due to the charm of the place and the friendliness of the occupants.
