Azur is a typical small Landais village, situated on the edge of the lake at Soustons,
close to the Atlantic ocean and the beaches of Vieux-Boucau, Moliets and Messanges. In the
middle of the vast pine forest, the lake is ideal for safe bathing and a multitude of
water sports and fishing. Azur is a favourite amongst nature lovers for its quiet walks
amidst the forest, numerous cycling trails and archery facilities.
Azur exemplifies the traditional village traditions of hospitality
in the Landes. The Comité des Fêtes d'Azur organises "sardinades"
(grilled sardine parties) by the lakeside in summer with traditional
landais folklore and the famous men on stilts, not forgetting the village
fête on the last weekend in August.
