Borda Museum was established in 1876 by the Archaeological and Historical Society of Borda.
It owes its name to Jean-Charles de Borda, mathematician, physicist and navigator born in Dax in 1733 and his cousin François Jacques Borda d'Oro, a paleontologist, a precursor of prehistory.
Borda Museum is housed in the Carmelite Chapel, built in 1523.
Of the former monastery remains today the choir and side chapels of the
church.
The Borda museum presents very different collections: objects depicting the history of the city, from the Gallo-Roman times to the present day and works of art evoking the landaislandscape and bullfighting
